It was a creative synergy, I chose to design these two royal icing cookies along with my friend Deepali Jangde way back in 2016. Our inspiration for this effort were the brilliant cookies crafted by Marta Torres of Cookie Lab !
We decided to work on two colorful pictures that depict a style of the Indian woman…….And aha! we created “CHAMMAK CHHALLO” and “THE JEWELLED DIVA”.
Indian women have come a long way….. we are a blend of respectful tradition and modernity, which makes us fit enough to jog along in the times of today! Our fondness for colour and jewellery is clearly reflected in the way we dress, especially on festive occasions.
HERE’S HOW WE DESIGNED THE ROYAL ICING COOKIE
1.The cookie canvas was covered with royal icing/fondant and left to dry.
2.A selected design image was transferred onto the dry cookie base.
3.Royal icing of the appropriate consistency was made and coloured.
- Next, the icing was filled step by step, in the desired sections, as needed.
5.After the complete image was filled, hand painting was undertaken.
- In the end, the highlights were added in royal icing and texturing was completed on the cookie background.
7.To complete the cookie design, borders were piped at the edge.
All edible cookies made using Royal icing, food colours, luster dust and a touch of wafer paper.
COOKIE DESIGN 1: She is a CHHAMAK CHHALLO
The dhinchak Indian girl with loads of spunk and attitude.Flirtatious and beautiful, she loves color and noise in her clothes.Delicate Jhumkas, nose rings and a bit of bling flatter her!
COOKIE DESIGN 2: Here is THE JEWELLED DIVA
She has grace and charismatic style….. exudes contemporary flair with a dash of tradition. She could be a mother, sister or/and a wife. Not just a pretty face, she is a loving soul.
An imbibed multi-tasker, who breezes through all her responsibilities. She shines in her jewels selected with great care.Clearly the independent lady who the family loves to depend upon!
